Summer Recap

One of my goals this summer has been to get back to writing on my blog. Sadly, this just hasn't really happened. Mixed feelings about letting it go but still feel the desire to write about certain things.

So...since I have a weekend of summer break to go, I thought why not recap about my summer doings? Just do a little bit of writing so I don't start the school year feeling regretful.

Sure enough, this summer went by as quickly as the blink of an eye. However, it has been a great one. PJ is still a stay-at-home-daddy so the three of us (along with furbabies too) got to spend a lot of good quality time together.

In June, we went to Sacramento for a friend's wedding and also to meet a friend's new baby boy. I put away the alarm clock (or merely turned it "off" on my phone) and enjoyed "sleeping in" an extra hour or two and waking up next to my daughter and my husband, and often my two kitties at my feet or my side. I indulged in naptimes, catching up on my Netflix and Hulu, reading several books, and just being lazy with my family.

During the last week of June, we got together with new friends for a BBQ and a tie-dye party.

We stayed local for the 4th of July holiday and went to a friend's house for a BBQ and s'mores. RaeRae got to do her first sparklers and watch fireworks in the sky.

I can't remember too many specific dates, but for the remaining summer, we went to or did:

  • The Aquarium of the Bay and Pier 39 in San Francisco
  • Habitot in Berkeley
  • Oakland Zoo on several occasions (family membership)
  • Children's Fairyland on several occasions (family membership)
  • Santa Cruz Boardwalk and beach
  • San Diego for a week
  • Disneyland for a full day
  • ArtBeast in Sacramento
  • Two Big Latch On events
  • Bay Area Discovery Museum
  • Central Library in Fremont
  • DCARA picnic in San Jose
  • Happy Hallows Zoo
  • Farmers' Market on many Sundays
  • Several playdates with friends
  • Many parks
  • Many Costco runs (and some Ikea too)
  • RaeRae's first movie theater outing (we saw Monsters University)
And more!

Sure, we had to be frugal but it has been worth it. Soon I go back to work as an elementary teacher in the Special Needs department at my school. Exciting new adventures await!

Enjoy some of these pictures from our summer!
